The word of the week was “work.”
Here are some synonyms that we got:
- Grind, the daily grind (this could be used to describe your work in Speaking Part 1 or Writing Task 1 or 2)
- Occupation
- Labor (it’s less common to use this as a verb “to labor” and it could get you a higher vocab score because it’s uncommon and interesting)
- Duty
- Role
- Designation (you could use this as a passive verb like, “I am designated as the leader of this group”)
- Activity
- Task
- To be in charge of something, to be charged with something
- Service
- Assignment
- To toil
- The workforce
- Effort
- Industry
- Performance
Some of these words will get you a 7 or higher for vocabulary because the examiner needs to hear a range of vocabulary choices that are unusual and different but natural.
