As this is a matching question, the answers are sometimes not in order.
Thus, it will take a little extra time to find the answers.
This is why strategies are so vital on the IELTS Reading test.
Step 1: Skim the Passage
Get the gist before looking at the questions.
Step 2: Do the First Group of Questions
There will probably be another group of questions before the matching sentence halves group.
If it is the first group, skip it and do another group first. This helps because you need to build some familiarity with the passage before tackling the matching question.
This will help save time, as you’ll have a better idea of where to find the key words.

Step 3: Underline Key Words
Underline key words in the questions and the possible answers. You have to know what you’re looking for.
Step 4: Do the First Question
Scan for the key word from the first question.
As these are not in order, you’ll have to scan from the beginning for each one.
Step 5: Compare the Passage to the Answer
Compare the sentence in the passage with the answer no more than a couple times. Write the answer and move on to question 2.
As with all reading strategies, the key to success is practicing them as much as possible.
