Sometimes, when you receive your final IELTS results, they are not what you needed.

To ask for a remark, follow these steps:
- Contact your test center and ask for an Enquiry of Results.
- You must apply for this at the center where you booked your exam. This can be done no more than 6 weeks after the date you took the test.
- You can choose which parts of the exam to be re-marked. You do not have to ask for all of them to be reviewed.
- You must also pay for this. (However, the fee will be refunded if your score increases.)
- The process takes 6-8 weeks to complete before you find out the results.

Ask yourself these questions:
- Why do you feel you deserve a better score?
- If your scoring profile is jagged, meaning that, for instance, your Listening is 2 bands higher than your speaking, you may in fact have deserved a higher score.
- If the case is only that you want or need a better score, but you actually didn’t prepare fully, you may be wasting your time.
- Is your score lower than the last time you took the exam?
- If you ignored preparation for one part and focused on another part, chances are your score decreased for the part you didn’t prepare for. So, don’t waste your time with the enquiry. Prepare for all 4 sections and do the exam again.
- Did you change your strategies? Did you prepare and practice a lot before test day? If you did, you probably deserve a higher score.
