‘Education’ is the most common topic on all parts of the IELTS Exam.

One specific aspect of this topic is opportunities for continued learning. This could come up on IELTS Speaking or Writing Task 2.

The first thing to come to Lindsay’s mind was about adult learning, traditional or non-traditional.

Jessica, however, went in another direction. This could also be applied to young people, such as science camps and nature clubs.

The most obvious examples for adult continued education would be at community colleges, with night classes. Perhaps people are learning skills that will further them in their career, such as IT or nursing courses. This would be extrinsic value– motivated by money and jobs.

Intrinsic learning also has a place here. For instance, people can take Tai Chi classes or join gardening clubs.

Recently, Lindsay’s friend started an article club, instead of a book club. Everyone in this group reads articles about one subject from different perspectives. Then, they come together and discuss what they learned.
