Crime is definitely something you should know how to discuss and think about for your IELTS Exam.

It may be a focus in a Reading passage, or a Listening section.

Additionally, you may be asked about laws, punishments, behavioral issues, societal expectations, or criminal actions and causes in Writing or Speaking.

So, to prepare, you should choose one of today’s recommended podcasts to follow!

If you’re preparing for IELTS, you should be listening to podcasts made for native speakers, not just students!

4 Crime Podcasts to Help Prepare for IELTS

1. Crime Time

This is an Australian program, so it’s excellent for practicing that accent!

It is hosted by two friends, who discuss their favorite books and movies related to crime and horror.

2. Serial

This was a ground-breaking podcast that came out a couple years ago. In each episode, you investigate the case along with the host.

The case is about a convicted murderer who may or may not be innocent! (Season 1 is the best!)

3. Heaven’s Gate

Heaven’s Gate is about a cult that existed in the States in the 70’s and 80’s.

The members of the cult came to an infamous and horrible end, which is what made this cult famous.

The show features interviews with ex-members, recordings of their leader, and stories about the cult itself and families of the victims.

4. Stranglers

Another investigative podcast like Serial, it centers on the case of the Boston Strangler… who was never caught!

Try a couple episodes of one of today’s recommendations, and, if you find it interesting, stick with it!

You can also visit the website of the program to learn more details about the people and stories featured on each episode.
