Watching high-quality TV shows and movies is, of course, entertaining. However, it will also improve your listening comprehension.

Apart from that, these are titles that most other students will not seek out. Thus, if you bring them up on your Speaking Exam, you will stand out in front of the examiner!

This is a mockumentary (a funny, fake documentary) about 3 vampires that live together in New Zealand. It’s great to practice understanding that accent!

Captain Fantastic

This indie film is about a family who lives outside society, surviving in the forest. However, they must enter back into civilization, and keeping the family together grows difficult. It’s a stunning and touching drama.

Sicario

Sicario is an award-winning film about a female FBI agent who is recruited for a special drug task force. It’s an intense thriller.

Indian Jones movies

Although a bit old, these are classics! All 3 star Harrison Ford in his heyday, and are directed by Steven Spielberg.

Between Two Ferns

Zach Galifianakis is an incredibly hilarious comedian who pretends to host an interview show in these short videos. Celebrities that have appeared on his show include Natalie Portman and President Barack Obama!

Veep

This sitcom has won awards every year it’s been on. It’s about life in Washington D.C. for one particular politician and her team.

The Tick

The most recent version of this show is live-action, though it was an animated series in the past. The central character is a superhero called The Tick, who has a heart of gold but not the biggest brain.
