Did you know that you should use paraphrases for IELTS Speaking questions on your exam?

This seems like a small detail, but, if you’re aiming for a 7 or higher, every strategic way to arrive there helps.

Firstly, paraphrasing the question is important for vocabulary. If you simply copy the question in the beginning of your answer, it shows a lack of lexical flexibility and knowledge.

Thus, utilizing other words to express the topic is an excellent way to show the examiner that you have a range of vocabulary.

In the examples below, note how sometimes I paraphrase the question, and, at other times, I instead get directly to my specific answer.
