Recently, a student faced a difficult question in IELTS Writing Task 2:
The fact that humans copy each other can be seen in the popularity of fashion and consumer products.
How far do you agree or disagree?
Seeing as the initial stage of brainstorming is the most crucial phase of writing, as this is where all of your ideas and body paragraph structure come from, let’s go through a sample.
When searching for ideas to include in your essay, think about personal experience and societal observations first. This can provide easy access to specific details.
If these ideas come to mind first, write them down! Time is of the essence, so don’t waste precious minutes by trying to think of the ‘perfect’ idea or example.
Sample Task 2 Brainstorm:
Humans copy each other; fashion; products

[This paragraph would express my opinion.]
everyone still chooses different styles- any given street, see a hippy, business man in a suit, endless combinations of thrift-store finds
last night in a posh hotel lounge downtown, did not see one person who styled themselves exactly the same as any other patron
Apple may have a stronger image, but I know more people with Androids, including myself, and the devices themselves are customized by user with fitness, news or social media apps
