If your IELTS course does not meet these 3 requirements, get your money back!

There are so many options for studying IELTS, and, unfortunately, they are not all created equal.

Even where I live, in Portland, Oregon, I see crazy “intensive” IELTS classes, that cost well over $1,000 a month, and require students to be in class 5 days a week for 2-4 hours.

What a waste!

As an IELTS teacher, I look at some of the curricula for these classes, and I see easily half is complete busy work.

Simply put: you are worth more! Your time, physical energy, mental power and money need to be focused in the right direction.

Learn today how to evaluate your course, and if it is a waste of your resources.

1. Strategies should have no more than 4 steps- for anything.

If your teacher is explaining lengthy and complicated systems for finding an answer or writing an essay, this is not going to help you on the IELTS exam.

What you need are clear, simple and effective strategies. They should be easy to understand and use, and, with practice, give you confidence in finding the right answer and scoring highly.

2. The teacher should be able to link advice to IELTS scoring system.

If your teacher gives you advice in speaking or writing, it must be connected to the requirements for high scores. This means that it must directly connect to the scoring rubric that the examiner uses to grade you.

If your teacher says something that you doubt, simply ask, “Why?” If they can’t explain it in terms of scoring details, they are not an IELTS professional and will not help you pass the exam.

3. It should not cost more than the actual exam.

Students are investing thousands of dollars in intensive IELTS classes in language schools.

Don’t do it!

Our course, for instance, costs $197.

Any course you choose should not break the bank, and still meet the standards set out in points 1 and 2.

If you are studying in a course that does not meet these requirements, find one that does!
