Today you’ll hear a sample IELTS Part 2 answer describing the home I would like to have in the future.
Recently, we talked about using your imagination on IELTS Speaking Part 2.
This can be challenging on exam day. When you are nervous, having to be creative may be stressful.
If you are given a Part 2 topic like this, focus on specific details, and organize these details in a logical way.
In my answer, I describe my future home from the outside in.

Take notes on any interesting, high-scoring vocabulary you hear to use in your own practice answer.

Then, I pretend as if I am giving the examiner a tour of this place, beginning at the front door which opens into the living room.
Just by providing that information, I was able to fill the 2 minutes.
If I had had more time, I would have gone on to give details about the kitchen and bedrooms. I could also talk about the office/library room I’d like to have.

Remember that you are graded on your ability to communicate, not the the likelihood of you actually buying this house.
When you describe a place, try to picture the place in your mind. You can describe paintings on the wall, the color of the pillows on the couch, etc.
Your turn! Try and use these in your own practice Part 2 answer!
