It’s not easy when you are in a business meeting in English and and you want to say something and everyone is speaking loudly.

Today get four English phrases that will get the people at the meeting to turn their attention to you.

What do people do at meetings in the United States when they get excited?

  • They talk loudly
  • They speed up
  • They speak over others

This is a common conversation style in American business culture and in social settings as well.

It might be different in your culture.

This might create a problem because in the US you are judged by your ideas and if you can’t enter the conversation and articulate them then you won’t be able to advance in your career.

Phrases to enter a business conversation or meeting:

  • “Excuse me, could I say something?”
  • “I have something to add here.”
  • “Can I jump in here?”
  • “I’d like to say something.”
