encourage someone to take action in English

Do you find that you hesitate a lot or do you make your decisions quickly?

Do you have a hard time coming to a quick decision?

We all have times when we hesitate or make quick decisions, though you tend to be one way or the other.

We’re going to look into this today and understand how to encourage someone to make good decisions using the right words in English.

Many Ways To Be Decisive

There are multiple ways to talk about being decisive.

It doesn’t matter if you want to be more decisive or you happen to be quick to make decisions naturally.

If you happen to be somebody who hesitates, then there are a couple of ways to address this.

  • Pull the trigger: Finally move forward with or do something that you have been procrastinating.
    • “They have been dating for a long time and he finally decided to pull the trigger and propose to her.”
  • Bite the bullet: Deciding to do something that you perceived to be unpleasant, which you may have been dreading or putting off.
    • “I wasn’t sure if I should move to NY. I went back and forth, but I decided to bite the bullet, and it totally paid off!”
  • Take the bull by the horns: This means something like to “seize the day”
    • “This year I’m going to take the bull by the horns and not wait to decide which gym to join. Then I never do anything!”
  • Throw caution to the wind: This is more about whichever way things go it doesn’t matter because you are just happy to see what happens.
    • “Come on, don’t worry about it so much. Just throw caution to the wind and see what happens. You can’t go wrong!”
