Do you think you’re prepared for IELTS Writing Task 1?

Are you sure??!!

Even if you’ve studied academic writing skills, written papers for professors in English, or even done well on other writing exams, that does not mean, at all, you will do well on IELTS Writing Task 1.

How is IELTS Writing Task 1 Unique?

Task 1 is all about numbers.

  • However, if you put too many numbers in your essay, your Task score goes down to a 5.
  • If you don’t put enough numbers, that score also goes down to a 5.
  • It’s a balance! In our course, you learn exactly what numbers the examiner must see.
    • For example, in Change Over Time, you need to include the highest, second highest and lowest numbers.

You must include an overall trend.

  • This is like the thesis statement for your essay.
  • In Change Over Time, for example, the overall trend tells the examiner how the numbers changed, overall, from beginning to end.
    • Even native speakers do not include overall trends in their essays, because they don’t know it has to be there!

You cannot put in your opinion.

  • No opinions, no predictions.
  • Only describe what you see.

You must use interesting vocabulary.
