IELTS Energy 714: Bring Yourself Back to the Question for Higher IELTS Writing Scores

Today we’ll talk about technology, and getting higher IELTS Writing Task 2 scores.

Congratulations to our student Helen, who raised all of her scores, especially her Reading score, that went from a 6.5 to an 8!

She also increased her Writing score from a 6 to a 7, because she learned our 3 Keys templates really well, and then could be flexible and add her own impressive ideas and vocabulary.

One very common IELTS topic relates to technology helping our lives or not, and, more specifically, if it helps us attain a work-life balance more easily.

Brainstorming tip:

While you brainstorm, make sure you check back to the question a couple times. Make sure that you’re including all of the key ideas from the prompt, and that all of your ideas are directly on topic.

Also, remember to personalize the question, and put your own experience in your essay and Speaking answers.

Jessica and Lindsay’s brainstorm:

Positives:

  • can work from home; no commute, which helps the environment
  • childcare becomes easier, as time is more flexible
  • saves time due to modern communication tools

Negatives:

  • work is always with you on your phone
  • we’ve lost our ability to connect personally, face to face, leading to fewer people in our community to connect with

Can you think of more positives and negatives?
