How does it increase your score?

Using quotes in your Speaking test shows your depth of understanding of the language. This will increase your fluency score.

You can’t necessarily show that depth of understanding just with literal words.

It shows that you have a command of the language that a Band 6 student would not.

It can also help your vocabulary score if there’s great vocabulary in the quote but more than anything, it is showing your fluency.

Great quotes to use on Speaking:

Here is the first quote: “Your time is limited so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.” -Steve Jobs

This quote means that you should choose the life you want and do the things you want to do instead of doing what everyone else wants you to do.

You can use this quote when you’re telling a story, when you’re talking about your work or describing yourself on IELTS Speaking Part 1 or even Part 2.

Here is the second quote: “If every pork chop were perfect there wouldn’t be hot dogs.” – Steven Universe (Sci-Fi Fantasy cartoon)

This quote means that nobody is perfect.

You can use it on IELTS to describe your life choices, your free time, how you exercise, shop or cook and whatever different choices you make.

You can also use this quote when you’re describing your weaknesses or mistakes you’ve made.

How to choose a good quote that resonates you?

  1. Google famous quotes.
  2. Think about your favorite movie or TV show and Google famous quotes from that and memorize some of those quotes.

Your strategy with this advice is to go out and find some quotes that reflect your life or your perspective and that would be appropriate to use in a number of questions.

Once you find those 1-2 quotes you should practice using them to answer IELTS Speaking questions.

When you take the extra time to prepare in this depth, you can be sure that you will score 7 or higher on your next exam.
