Today you’ll learn how to predict on the IELTS Listening Exam to increase your scores.
What is prediction?
This is a skill that, according to students in our course, greatly improves your ability to get the right answers.
Prediction is when you look at the answer you need, and actively think about what you might hear.
You should start by predicting word form, like noun/verb-ing, verb, adjective, etc.
Then, try predicting specific answers.
Why should you predict?
This prediction of a specific answer is not necessarily going to be correct- the point is just to warm up your brain so you are ready to receive the answer when they come.
We must warm up our brains as much as possible before we listen, and tackle the exam in an active way. Active test-takers get higher scores than passive ones!
In short, you cannot wait for the answer to come to you.
Use the time given before you listen to underline key words and predict possible answers.
