Have you ever heard somebody say that they’re “going out on a limb”?

Have you ever tried to put yourself out there and try something new?

Does the New Year seem like a big deal to those in the US?

If you have ever wondered why the New Year is such a big deal to so many people in the US, we’re going to help you understand this.

We have a letter that really helps to think through what the New Year means in the US.

My son and I are planning to go to Chicago for a week. I remember New Years Day was not a big day like it is in Japan. Are businesses closed? Are restaurants and shops also closed on New Years Day?

Can you also talk about the general feel of New Years?

Thanks so much!

New Years Day Is Different For Everyone

What is the feeling around New Years?

For some people it’s all about sleeping in on New Years Day.

New Years Eve can be a big party night, and so people may take it easy the next day.

For some people it’s about new beginnings and therefore getting set up for the new year ahead.

You will find that all government offices and businesses are closed, but some restaurants are open.

What Does A Fresh Start Mean To You?

Some people may start new traditions or set new goals because it’s a fresh new start.

You have the opportunity to be whatever you want.

It may be an idealistic culture, but many people want to set goals that can be worked towards throughout the year ahead.

Many people make lists and consider this to be a “fresh start”.

The notion of making resolutions has become rather cliche and therefore many people don’t make them or follow through on them.

You may be cleaning things out and starting fresh.

It’s all about being motivated and working to accomplish things in the New Year.

If You Put Yourself Out There Great Things Can Come

“Go out on a limb because that is where the fruit is.”

This means that the only way to get to where yu want to be is to take a risk.

Taking a risk can be scary but it’s the only way to really get to where you want to be.

When you put yourself out there, this is where the rewards are.

Let’s make it our goal to go out on a limb in this New Year and see what great things it can bring to us.

Takeaway

The New Year is a great time to start fresh.

Though this may be specific to the US, it symbolizes a time for a new beginning.

This is a great time to “go out on a limb” and put yourself out there–try something new.

This is how you improve your life and also make new and great connections!
