Tips To Use Social Media For Taking Your Learning To Another Level

So how can you take your learning up a notch using the AEE Instagram channel?

There are a couple of tips to really make the most of this learning opportunity and social media outlet.

  1. We always ask you questions in each episode-You should post your answers to our questions in our episodes in full detail. You are going to learn a lot by putting details into the answers that you provide to our questions. The questions are very specific and so you want to make your answers long and full of details. This helps you to really take your learning up a level. It also helps because we often read and answer these questions too. If you are preparing for IELTS it will also help you build out details for IELTS Writing. This is a great place to practice your English!
  2. Make it a conversation between you and the other listeners. Other listeners are making comments and getting the conversation going. Use this channel as a forum to have conversations with others online in English. This is a huge opportunity to practice English, but also to connect. That’s what it’s all about, and it’s great to connect with others just like you at the same point in their learning. Keep the dialogue going!
  3. Take it another step further and create your own original content. You have things to share from your life and your city, so use this as a great place to share things. This really forces you to get conversation going and to create fresh new content written from you directly. Think of what is in your city that you could post about in English. Consider trends, things going on in your city and your life, and then mirror what we do in English. Try to engage people by asking questions, and even tagging All Ears English in these posts too.
  4. Bring all of this into the real world. Technology, social media, and Instagram are like the midway point in things. You want to take your Instagram English into the real world, and that starts with using new words that you learn online for example. Think of something like “what would your vanity plate be if you had one?” This says a lot about you and gets the conversation going. It also allows you to use new words and sayings, and really work towards connections with others. This is a great way to make small talk and share your observations of what happens around you in English.

These tips can really help you to take what you learn and see online and apply it into the real world.

Takeaway

Social media and channels like Instagram give us unique opportunities to become part of the culture and build an international community of English learners who believe in Connection NOT Perfection when it comes to learning English.

You want to take what you learn and see and apply it to other areas of your life.

These are the things that will help you to connect with others and really take your learning to another level in English.
