how to learn more about McDonald's in English

What is your McDonald’s story?

For many of us who grew up in the US in the 80’s and 90’s, McDonald’s was a huge part of our lives.

I would visit McDonald’s every Wednesday with my dad and brother for a Happy Meal.

I remember how much I loved it. McDonald’s is an icon in the US and around the world.

In today’s episode you’ll get 3 resources where you can hear more McDonald’s stories and when you’re ready you can join our course where you’ll visit the first McDonald’s in San Bernardino, California.

Why would you want to learn more about McDonald’s and learn how to articulate your own McDonald’s story?

This is a topic that comes up sometimes with native speakers so if you want to connect with natives this is a great skill to build.

3 Key Resources:

  • The Founder: This is a movie that is available on Netflix. It’s the story of Ray Kroc who was the founder of McDonald’s. You will learn a ton about how McDonald’s came to be if you check out this movie and you will have ideas to discuss in fun conversations.

  • The Revisionist by Malcolm Gladwell: This podcast just came out and Malcolm Gladwell has written some great books that make you think about aspects of society. This will provide great topics for your conversations with natives.

  • The McDonald’s Lesson in our course: We show you the original McDonald’s and you learn the timeline of how McDonald’s became popular. If you join Connection Club you will be able to meet with us and share your own McDonald’s story. Go here to join our course.
