Do capital letters and hyphens really matter in the answers for IELTS Listening?
Yes, they both do!
Remember that your answers must be grammatically correct in Listening and Reading, and capitalization is a part of grammar.
Thus, you must capitalize the first letter, if the word is a beginning of a complete sentence, or if it is a proper noun, like a name of a place or a person.

As for hyphens, these rules are not as clear cut as capitals. To find out more rules related to hyphens and compound nouns, do a Google search for ‘hyphen compound nouns’.
Also, when you see that you’ve gotten an answer wrong in your listening practice because of a hyphen, note these phrases down.
Just as IELTS repeats the same tricks on every test, they also sometimes repeat answers!
