Today you’ll learn 3 easy ways for more effective IELTS self-study, so you don’t waste anymore time!
Yes, at the end of the day, it is an English test, so you need to develop a high overall level.
However, just as importantly, is learning and practicing the testing skills and strategies.
Step #1: Don’t get distracted!
When studying/working online, it is sooo easy to get distracted, by Facebook, news, etc.
Set aside 45 minutes to only focus on IELTS. Put it in your schedule.
This can be watching a lecture or doing test practice, for instance.
Then, have a whole 10 minutes to do whatever you want to recharge.
If you can, follow that with another 45 minute block of pure study.
Step #2: 30 minutes a day for overall English development
If you can do more than 30 minutes, that’s also fantastic!
The fact is, you need to improve your overall English, for all four skills: speaking, reading, listening and writing.

Then, carve out time from those activities to focus on English.
You must sacrifice and work hard for high IELTS scores, just like our amazing students who have got the scores they needed!
Step #3: Exploit all of your practice
You can learn more out of every activity!
For instance, after listening, reading or watching something in English, talk out loud to yourself for 5 minutes. Summarize the information then react– give your opinion.
The reaction is the most important part! It helps you remember the information better, and you have to practice providing opinions for the exam.
When doing practice tests, for every wrong answer you get, figure out why! Find the key words, tricks, or vocabulary that kept you from getting the correct answer.
If it was a spelling mistake, put it on your spelling list!
