The examiner doesn’t just listen for “high-level” words, or “academic” words. That is only one end of the spectrum!
Basically, your lexical expression must be match the tone of the question. Otherwise, it is inappropriate and leads to lower vocabulary scores.
For instance, if you are asked about hanging out with your friends in Speaking Part 1, it would be odd to say, “My acquaintances and I choose to obtain recorded cinema classics and view them within the realms of our abodes.”
Although that certainly is interesting vocabulary, it is not in the same tone as the question.

Some slang- I’m super into binging on British crime series at the moment.
Some idioms- I’m living the dream right now– just being stoked on student life and having loads of adventures with my friends.
Interesting and descriptive adjectives and adverbs- I have a super stunning apartment.

Natural introduction- To be honest, this is not the easiest question to answer.
