Today you’ll learn how to deal with one-sided Task 2 IELTS questions.

The Writing Task 2 question is:

Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject.

Do you agree or disagree?

How can I write the introduction and the second paragraph, because it has only one side?

Khayala, 3 Keys IELTS student

Sample Task 2 Brainstorm

Should accept equal numbers:

  • get varied perspectives from both genders
  • overcome historical gender bias inherent in the educational system
  • ensure women have a fair shake in fields like science, engineering, and math
  • use a real example of the above from your own country, culture or university

Shouldn’t accept equal numbers:

  • discrimination, taking away free choice
  • having a merit-based system, should get in due to qualifications, not just gender

Brainstorming is key to having an organized essay and controlling your time.

The 3 Keys IELTS System teaches you how to brainstorm and organize your ideas for a 7 or higher.
