Think Outside the Box for Higher IELTS Speaking Scores

Today you’ll learn how to think outside the box for higher IELTS Speaking scores.

What do most students get on IELTS Speaking? Band 6.

Why?

A band 6 student has studied for the test; however, not in the right way.

Basically, an IELTS band 6 candidate can talk about almost anything, be understood by the examiner, but exhibits little to no natural features of communication, as a native would.

The difference between a band 6 and band 7, is that a band 7 student is using some native vocabulary that students don’t learn or use.

Also, a band 7 student shows some flexibility– with ideas, pronunciation, and vocabulary.

What’s a band 8, then? The more natural features you show, and the fewer errors you have, the higher your IELTS score.

You must not sound bored, and exhibit variation in your tone and intonation.

Grammar
