Do you sometimes want to say happy birthday to someone at work in English?
Today find out how to do it and what to say so that you can build those connections that you want!
Today we start with a question from a listener:
Hi Lindsay and Michelle
Merry Christmas and happy 2017!
l wish you and your family all the best.
As I started writing this message, a question came in my mind: what are the common and typical wishes in happy situations like: new year, baby birth, wedding day, birthday, and etc.?
(FOLLOW UP EMAIL)
I realized I didn’t say what I meant in the last email, the main issue was how to say and wish happiness for those who are in these situations, for example for some one who has a baby, or some one who is getting married. I wish I could clarify my point!
Thank you
Masoume

5 ways to wish someone a happy birthday:
1- Hey the big 3-6 for you today, huh? Happy Birthday! (for this you need to know the person well, you are kind of teasing them)
2- It’s your 23rd. I hope you have an amazing day today.
3- Wishing you a wonderful birthday (more formal, written)
4- Hey happy birthday! Any big plans today/ this weekend?
5- I wanted to wish you a happy birthday (using “wanted” in the past tense because you are saying it quickly, trying not to impose on the person)
