never say get IELTS writing task 2

The word “get” is easy, it’s informal, and it is a very low-scoring word.

A good rule for formal, academic writing is that if you learned a word in your first year of English classes, you shouldn’t be using it.

In order to gain high vocabulary scores in Writing Task 2, you need to utilize formal, high-level vocabulary, and any phrase with the word “get” will not help you.

You won’t lose points, necessarily, but you won’t be helping your score either.

“Get” is also one of the most common verbs in phrasal verbs. There are tons, and many that you use quite a lot.

However, phrasal verbs are usually considered informal, and should always be replaced with another word in your writing.

Plus, the vocabulary in the video can also be used in Speaking Part 3, to help you show more of a range in that section.
