We’ve mentioned before how overthinking lowers scores.

So, today, let’s get into more specifics about when this actually occurs on your Reading Exam.

1. Trying to understand the whole passage

-You don’t have time to read the whole passage, let alone understand it fully.

-Good news- you don’t have to! All you need are strategies.

-It’s all about matching key words in the questions and the passage.

-If you try to understand the passage, you’re thinking too much and wasting time.

2. Going back and forth between question and passage too many times

-This, obviously, wastes time!

-Don’t go beyond 1 minute for each question.

-If you read too much, you think too much, and you get the wrong answer.

3. Changing your answers

-This is an overthinking no-no on any exam.

-Usually, when we change our answers, we change it to a wrong answer.

-Don’t doubt yourself or the strategies.
