3 ways to describe your hometown:

  • #1: “Post-90’s”, “Post-80’s”: You can use this phrase to describe any time period after a specific time. “Post- 90’s” means after the 90’s. When you use this phrase you sound much more articulate than if you just said “After the 90’s.”

 

  • #2: “We went from being ___ to being ____”: In the example Lindsay said that “Kendall Square went from being industrial and forgotten to being overpriced.”

 

  • #3: “Back in the day”: This is a great and natural way to say that something happened in the past. If you used this on the IELTS Speaking test it would be a huge differentiator to increase your score because other candidates would not use it.
