"The English Adventurer"

native English immersion course Boston New York City

Today we get to meet Heidi who is one of our native speakers in the Urban Immersion Adventure.

Plus you’ll find out why when it comes to connecting, you just need to get in there and start speaking!

Heidi is originally from New Jersey.

She has lived in Boston for a while studying as a graduate student at Lesley University.

She lived in Peru and taught English in the past so she knows what it’s like to be involved in an Immersion situation and she knows how helpful it is to be immersed in a new language.

What was Heidi’s favorite part of the weekend?

She loved the Drama Lab.

She had a ton of fun participating.

She also loved watching students communicate not just with words but also with different tones and inflections.

Her favorite part was the skit.

She was paired with a few different students and together they created skits.

She saw students go from being shy and unsure about how to express themselves to becoming more sure of themselves and knowing what to do and how to express themselves.

What other transformations did she see?

The first night some students were shy to speak with Heidi but students became more comfortable throughout the weekend when they realized that she wasn’t judging them.

What advice does Heidi have for students?

Ask the natives questions.

Please love to talk about themselves.

If you just ask someone a question they will talk to you.
