Here is a question from our listener:

“My biggest fear when it comes to English listening is that I can lose the main idea or not understand correctly. As a result I can ask a question that has already been answered.”

There are no stupid questions!

The most important part of connection is owning your space.

People want to connect with someone that is present and confident.

By owning your space you will be able to focus better and you will miss less.

When you are focused on yourself you are in your head and you do miss things.

Don’t be worried about what the other person is going to think about you.

What to say if you think you’ve missed something:

  • “Maybe you already mentioned this, but I was wondering… (Ask your question)”
  • “I may have missed something. (Ask your question)….”
  • “Not sure if I missed it, but (Ask your question)…”

Come back to the goal.

It’s connection! That’s why you have to ask this question about what you may have missed so that you can keep the conversation moving forward.

Never be shy.

Never back off from connection because you feel that you missed something.

Make sure that you stay on the same page with the person.

99% of the people are not going to mind.

Maybe a few people will snap at you, but do you really want to be talking to them?
