Writing Task 2 Brainstorming Tips
- Try to write just one reason with a strong example and specific details for both body paragraphs.
- Only write enough for each paragraph. Writing as many reasons as you can think of is a waste of time, because you only need one or two for each body paragraph.
- When you begin practicing, don’t worry about time. Take as long as you need to come up with good ideas.
- As you get closer to your IELTS Exam, the brainstorm should take no more than 5 minutes.

Other people believe that it is important for children to make decisions about matters that affect them. Discuss both these views and give your opinion.
- own choices leads to selfishness: children naturally focused on own ego –> famous psychiatric study in 1978 established children occupy a world they are the center of –> if not forced to socialize and develop empathy, chance these traits will not develop
- children own decisions: important to encourage cooperation, but also individuality and autonomy –> small decisions, like which snack to eat, which book to read, leads to confidence and responsibility –> if never have choices, not able to mature or make intelligent choices on their own, unable teamwork in workplace or experience connected deep relationships
