Mindset matters when you’re learning a new language!

Lindsay and Hadar explore the impact mindset can have on your English learning goals and dreams.

In this episode, you’ll get three tips to cultivate a growth-oriented mindset.

This will help you reach the highest possible level of English fluency and human connection.

Why mindset matters

Hadar shares how mindset and fluency are connected.

By embracing a growth mindset, you can enhance your language learning journey and achieve remarkable progress.

This can be the missing piece and the reason that you are not progressing as fast as you should be.

Hadar shares proven strategies for developing a mindset that will help you succeed with your English.

#1: Reframe limiting beliefs

It’s vital to acknowledge and identify limiting beliefs and reframe them.

Let go of beliefs that hold you back and replace them with positive affirmations that fuel your motivation and confidence.

As we go through life, we collect beliefs.

We assume these beliefs are real, but they are only thoughts.

Thoughts are not facts.

We need to question our assumptions.

If you have a belief that English is hard, recognize that it’s a thought and put it into balance with a helpful thought.

You can change the thought “English is hard” to “What I have to say is important.”

One thought at a time

Hadar points out that you can only think one thought at a time.

We have to swap those that are unhelpful for more positive thoughts.

Also, it’s important to question where you get your thoughts.

Sometimes we inherit the limiting beliefs of our parents or our partners.

We also might get these beliefs from our early childhood experiences.

Listen to your inner dialogue and be skeptical!

#2: Ask yourself “So what?”

If you’re worried about making a mistake and have a limiting thought, ask yourself “So what?”

For example, you might say to yourself, “I am going to feel humiliated.”

If you find yourself thinking this, you can say “So what?”

Hadar shares that we spend a lot of time making other people comfortable.

That can be the source of many limiting beliefs.

You might be afraid of letting someone down if you don’t perform well in a presentation, for example.

Ask yourself what the ultimate impact of your limiting belief will be.

#3: Take daily action to build a healthy mindset

Take time during the day to recognize the things that are possible in your life because you can speak English.

Write a gratitude list to reflect on your wins.

For example, did you have a nice conversation with a friend?

Did you get your dream job? Did you watch a movie without subtitles?

Be grateful for your wins!

This will create positive energy on a daily basis, which many students don’t have.

Takeaway

Hadar’s tips can help us improve our mindset and reframe our English-learning journey in a positive way.

If you have a positive mindset, your possibilities are limitless.

Remember, it’s all about what you do on a daily basis.

Hadar reminds us that our voices matter.

Mistakes are natural and they are the only way to learn.
